I agree. I'd be happy with any of the final four on the cover, to be honest. |

Be cool if it came down to a goalie battle ! what do you think about Mckenzie saying all it would take for the leafs to sign Clarkson is a phone call all because he is a big Wendal Clark fan |

Given that next year is (I imagine) likely to be his last in the league, it would be a nice touch to have him on there. |

My thoughts exactly I cant believe both Leaf players got beat out I thought they would be the toughest to beat with the huge fan base but with that comes a lot of haters so I guess it makes some sense |

I think if he doesn't re-sign in New Jersey he'll end up in Toronto. That was his favorite team growing up and he's from there. |

It happens. Lots of folks in our fan base want Lupes to succeed Dion as captain, and I think if that was the case, it may have tipped more to vote for him. |

pleease let it just be 20mil/5 years for Clarkson, 15mil/3 years for Elias. I can handle that... even tho 4mil is still overpriced for a 3rd line winger.
Bring back Zubrus for 6.5mil/2 years. He'll be 35 in June.. getting older. I wouldn't be surprised if Lou lets him go, thinking Matteau will step into that role. Or even think Matteau will 'replace' Clarkson's grit/scoring.
Zubrus-Lokti/Henrique-Kovalchuk
Elias-Zajac-Horton/Iginla/Ryder/Stalberg. We MUST get someone.
Matteau/Boucher/Zubrus?-Josefson/Henrique-Clarkson
we may see a trade. Lokti, Henrique, Zajac, Josefson are all good enough to be top 3 centers, and there's no reason to break up CBGB.. ever.. for the next 20 years.
Maybe we package Josefson for a LW. I remain comfortable trading any combination of Josefson+Urbom+2nd+Tedenby for a top line LW.
I like Filpulla, but he lacks scoring ability. He's always been a 2nd/3rd line guy. maybe he can be the playmaker for Kovy? maybe?
I just don't know what we do with our center depth. |

I think if Marty gets past datsyuk he will win...bob is awesome but he just isn't a household name like Marty, Tavares would be tough but I think Marty would edge him out. But as Todd said all 4 picks are nice..and it's nice Simmonds is out...dunno that I could stomach another game filled with flyers crap |

He's actually mentioned that he still enjoys playing and wants to play as long as he still enjoys it. |

For sure he would have at least two years in him as a back up so long as he can enjoy the game as a backup instead of starter but I don't see why he couldn't

He still played well this year and as long as his stickhandling is world class, his workload will be relatively light. Maybe Marty will be the transition goalie that helps bring kinkaid/wedgewood along. |

lol look at this. 6 forwards signed for next year haha

if last offseason is an example.. we'll probably just keep our UFAs and do nothing this year.

oh what fun. no thank you. Leaves us with about 8 in cap space with Elias 5, Clarkson 4, Zubrus 3, Lokti/Henrique/Josefson 1.5 each. With that 8 we can definitely grab both Filppula AND Stalberg. I wish Horton was more consistent, I'd love him on that 2nd line RW.

Two reasons why I could see Lou making a move is that attendance was up and no 1st rounder next year. |

Attendance being up is a good thing. why would it suggest him making a move?
no 1st next year is a bad thing, so wouldn't he make the move next year?
I may be misunderstanding you. |

I'm saying they are both reasons he would make a move. Attendance is more Vanderbeek, because I'm sure he would love to keep momentum going and getting back to the playoffs is really the only way. NHL is largely a gate receipts league so I'm sure he did well this year, so spending to the cap, or close to it, shouldn't be an issue. |

If we can replace Clarkson with someone like Horton I would be very happy. To be honest I don't think he is worth $4 million or more. I also don't think he is resigning. Get Horton for the 2nd line and offer him $5-5.5 million. Find a way to get Bobby Ryan offer up whatever you have to probably Merill will be in the package.

Did Horton and DeBoer get along in Florida? Don't remember but I thought Horton was thrown out of practice while in Florida. Overall, I thought Florida wanted to get rid of him. |
